Health Education at Cashmere High School seeks to foster critical thinking skills and the teaching programme is informed by the Te Whare Tapa Whā model of Health (physical wellbeing, social wellbeing, mental and emotional wellbeing and spiritual wellbeing).
Junior Health Education focuses on key skills including self and social awareness, resilience, decision making and critical thinking whilst applying these to real world contexts.
Senior Health education aims to expand on the concepts that are covered in the junior programme and is a fully endorsed NCEA subject. Some of the key areas of focus include Alcohol and Drugs, Sexuality, Mental Health, Resilience, Goal Setting, Health Promotion and International/National Health Issues.
