In the Junior level, students will learn and understand about the Technology process to develop a new food product. The course also covers project planning, functional modelling and .design and stakeholder-focused product
As for the Senior level, a focus of this course is on developing safe, innovative food products to meet the needs of a niche market and consumers worldwide with the input from Industry experts. There is also an opportunity to research food production, quality assurance, policies and standards so that they are developing robust, sustainable products with considerations to societal and environmental impacts.
Fashion and Textiles Technology
Students learn project planning, functional modelling through experimenting with many different techniques and construction skills, applying the concept of malfunction to their projects and exploring the purpose behind the development and implementation of new products. There is also a focus on developing an understanding how designers use elements of design to enhance a garment for a specified market. Students work through projects; a construction-based garment and then use the design process to develop a garment for a chosen environment and need. Through basic project management, conceptual design, communication and development of ideas through to a final prototype.
Early Childhood Education
Our aim is to provide opportunities for students to gain skills in early childhood learning and the care of infants, toddlers and young children. These skills maybe utilized as support for kaiako, kaiāwhina and carers in the early childhood area, leading to improved outcomes for communities, whanau and parenting.
Hospitality is a vocational subject that offers ‘real-world’ skills in this growing Industry. Food handling, preparation and food service skills are developed with a focus on presenting to end-users with an opportunity to practice their Front-of-House skills.
