Drama 301

This full year University Entrance and NCEA course offers students the chance to perform and create works that are integral to the modern theatre and performance landscape. Students will investigate ways in which current theatre professionals use to create the work we all enjoy. Specifically students will study:

Contemporary Theatre

Students will investigate the philosophy and theatre style of a selection of innovative theatre practitioners. Then be guided through a process in order to create an original piece of theatre that demonstrates their understanding of one or more of the practitioners.

Modern Acting Technique

Students will explore the creation of naturalistic characters through the study of Modern approaches to acting, such as those championed by Stanislavski and Misner.  Students will demonstrate this through the performance in a Modern Theatre Festival.

Audition Time

Students will be guided through an investigation into the ways in which Drama Techniques can be manipulated in various ways in the preparation of a piece, as if they are auditioning for a professional role.

Theatre Practitioner Study

Students will prepare for a presentation and workshop which they will lead their class through, based on the work and philosophy or recognised Theatre Practitioner. They get to be the teacher.
