Dance 301

In this final year of NCEA Dance students will work towards University Entrance, as well as outfitting themwith the skills and understanding to lead them into future Dance pathways. Specifically students will:

Becoming a Versatile Dancer

Students will learn and perform a repertoire of three contrasting dances based on their global and localinfluence on current dance practices and trends. The dances will be selected based on the strengths andgrowth areas of the class. The focus will be on dancing in a manner appropriate to the style of each piece. 

Produce a Dance to Realise a Concept

Students will individually choreograph, design and present a dance based on an idea about tūrangawaewaethat is 2-4 minutes long. Students will connect with students from other year groups in order to cast their piece.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Dancing in Style

Students will learn and perform a theatre dance is a dance performed for public entertainment or artisticexpression with the support of lighting and costumes. The style of this piece will often be determined bya guest choreographer. 

Going SoloStudents will individually perform a solo dance that communicates an idea that they are passionate about.​​​​​​​This will give students an opportunity to share the artist they have become with the world.
